Short Story Spirit Into Speck Included in Tales from the Moonlit Path's November/Halloween Issue

On November 28th. my short story, Spirit Into Speck, appeared in Tales from the Moonlit Path, a noted horror/fantasy online magazine. I am especially honored to be included in their Halloween issue because of their genre. This story is not only my first e-published piece buy stands as my first publishing credit ever, making me even more excited and inspired to write and submit even more!

Short Story The Hole in Lofton Cole Earns 6rd Spot

On September 17th, I received word that my story The Hole In One Lofton Cole scored 6th in the 2nd round of  the 2009 NYC Midnight 2009 Creative Writing Championships, earning me 14 points and securing me a spot in the 3rd and final round of competition. The story revolves around pro disk golfer, Lofton Cole, who is suffering from weak performances in tournaments and is on the brink of calling it quits. He meets up with an interesting person on the course who helps him find the passion he has lost.

Short Story The Need to Split Earns 3rd Spot

My story The Need to Split placed third in my group in Round 1, Stage 2 of the 2009 NYC Midnight 2009 Creative Writing Championships on August 20, 2009, earning me 20 points and landing me a spot in Round 2 of the 3-part writing competition. Writers in my group were asked to craft a 1000-word story combining Fantasy, A waiting room and A lobster. 

Short Story Change Earns 2nd Spot

My story Change placed second in my group in Round 1, Stage 1 of the 2009 NYC Midnight 2009 Creative Writing Championships on July 24th, 2009, moving me 22 points closer to the 2nd round of 3.

The synopsis for "Change" (now renamed "Good Buy") read: Anton Degrosse, aka Skyyt (pronounced "skit"), has been swindled out of every penny he owned through a Ponzi scheme orchestrated by investment banker Truman Lowell. Skyyt crafts a final work to express his feelings on the subject.

Upcoming Moonlit Path Publication

I learned late in the day July 12, 2009 that my story "Spriit Into Speck" will be included in Tales of the Moonlit Path's Halloween edition. TOTMP is a well-known online Horror publication which has previously published work by Sanford Allen, a strong writer, so this news was especially welcome. Thank you to Tricia for giving me my first publication credit and for the kind words about the story.

Speaking at Eisenhower Middle School

On May 29th, 2009, I made my first author appearance, speaking and reading to members of the Eisenhower Middle School Book Club. Winners of a reading challenge were allowed to eat a catered lunch and listen to the first pages of my children's book, "Hilmer Gibb and His Honkin' Huge Bib. The children impressed me with the number of books they had written and the amount of knowledge they retained about the stories. I handed out notebooks, pens, writing tips and motivational quotes for those interested in starting their own writing careers.

Writers Weekly Contest Finalist

The WritersWeekly Fall, 2008 24-hour Short Story Contest Winners - I was 1 of 23 entrants who earned honorable mention. My story was called Into Spirit and Speck. It was a 1000-word story about a witch, who has turned her captive man into a clump the size of a fava bean, must overcome her failing memory to find where she's placed him before a dark winter storm descends.
