Thomas McAuley is a San Antonio fiction author. He is husband to one beautiful and intelligent woman, father to two handsome and wise young men, and caretaker of four good-for-nothing f&#@ing animals. Web design feeds his family but writing feeds his soul.

Thomas is a founding member of DRAFTHOUSE, a 5-writer San Antonio critique group. He  has also been an on again off again member of the San Antonio Writers Guild since 2007. He redesigned their site in '08 or '09. He admits that he now pays it little attention, something that he used to feel bad about. But he stopped feeling bad when he remembered that the site has never paid him anything. Attention or otherwise.

Thomas has served as a high school mentor and has read to middle school children. No one complained much so he takes away that both adventures were successes.

He writes a little in the mornings and evenings through the week and for large blocks of time on the weekend. He admits that he doesn't submit enough and that he writes slow, but he's learning not to let that bother him too much. He also admits, more or less freely, that he may be blogging too much and spending too much time gathering and following friends on Twitter. But he tends to right himself after a while and keep it about the actual writing. This is evidenced by his love of sharing his difficulties in as honest a way as he knows at the time.

As of May '11, Thomas McAuley has written two adult novellas that suck and that won't see the light of day and a middle grade novella that is damed awesome but probably also won't see the light of day. Now he concentrates almost exclusively on dark short stories that keep turning into novella-length works. In the Fall of '08, one of his short stories, Spirit Into Speck, was  published in Tales of the Moonlit Path's October '09 Halloween issue.
